Finalists in the Finalists in the Catholic Welfare Australia Awards 2003

The Catholic Welfare Australia Awards 2003 received a total of 23 nominations across the three award categories.

The Judging Panel comprising Mr John Andrew, Board Member, Centacare Australia Ltd; Ms Margaret Deerain, Senior Policy Analyst, Catholic Health Australia; and, Mr Terry McCarthy, National President, Social Justice Committee of the Society of St Vincent de Paul have pleasure in announcing the three finalists in each category:

Award for Excellence in Service (Organisational)

  • Making a Significant Change (MASC), Centacare Ballarat

  • Marymead Disability Support - Respite Care, Marymead Child & Family Centre

  • The Horn of Africa, Family Support Program, Footscray Branch, Centacare Melbourne

Award for Most Innovative Program – The Norma Parker Award

  • Alternative School Program, Naromine, Centacare Wilcannia-Forbes

  • DASH (Disability, Allied Health & Social Support in Housing) Program, Centacare Ballarat

  • The Cyrene Centre, Centacare Melbourne

Award for Excellence in Service (Individual) – The Perkins Award

  • Joy Atherton, Resource Worker for Centacare Lifestyle and Accommmodation Support Service, Centacare Brisbane

  • Ms Sandra Robertson, Education Support Worker, The Smith Family

  • Mr Dale West, Director, Centacare Catholic Family Services, South Australia.

The 2003 Awards have been made possible with the assistance of Catholic Church Insurances Ltd (CCI) who is the Official Sponsor of the Catholic Welfare Australia Awards.

The winners will be announced at the Annual Conference Dinner on Wednesday, 1 October 2003 being held at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel in Geelong, Victoria.
